A Simple Guide to Dermal Fillers

Published by:

Age causes skin causes the skin to lose its elasticity, leading to the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It is normal for people to be concerned about wrinkles, however, wrinkles are reversible if the right treatment is administered. Wrinkles can be treated using dermal fillers, a popular cosmetic treatment which has been proven to be successful to a large percentage of users. Fillers are popular and safe cosmetic remedies for individuals who wish to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines on their face. Skin fillers restore a youthful appearance to the skin by plumping up and restoring its lost volume.

Juvederm

Juvederm has gained popularity as being an effective and safe skin filler. Juverderm is made by Allgern, who also make Botox. Juverderm is a range of injectable gels based on hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally occurs naturally in the human body meaning it can fill wrinkles and replace skin characteristics that it has lost over the years.

Further, Juvederm is less painful as it contains a pain reducing component called Lidocaine making the whole experience a more comfortable one. Juverderm effects are natural and long lasting on the skin.

Azzalure

Azzalure is a Botulinum toxin with the ability to smoothen wrinkles between the eyebrows and horizontal lines on the forehead. Azzalure also corrects radical wrinkles on the lower eyelid and around the eyes. Early smokers have lines around their lip and a “gummy smile” (too much gum seen while smiling).

These effects can be corrected by the use of Azzalure as indicated by the physician. Further, Azzalure fights against profuse sweating of face, feet hands and armpits. It is also an effective remedy for clearing vertical lines around the neck.

Restylane

Restylane is derived from hyaluronic acid, and it rehydrates skin and restores facial skin elasticity. Restylane is known for its effectiveness in adding volume and fullness to the skin correcting folds and wrinkles.

Further, Restylane can be used to treat lip lines for patients over the age of 21. Restylane treatment recovery is around three days, and the effects are long lasting. Also, the side effects of Restylane are temporal and mild; they include a little numbness during the treatment recovery period.

A youthful skin is the aspiration of many; do not let age limit you from having a younger look. Seek a quality skin filler and stay young.

What Is CoolSculpting?

Published by:

One technique that has been taking the world of fat loss by storm is CoolSculpting. It’s a non-invasive/non-surgical procedure that works to get rid of stubborn body fat from regions such as stomach, thighs, sides (love handles), hips, abdomen and other common problem areas.

It works by freezing fat cells in the treated area, which eventually die and are disposed from the body gradually through the digestive system.

The Procedure

The technique involves the use of paddle-shaped applicators that feature a hose and 2 panels, each having about 3,000 sensors. The hose delivers the cold to the panels which are attached to the skin via a gel pad, which also protects the skin.

They are left in place for about an hour where they will freeze the fat cells. A patient will experience mild tingling, cramping, stinging, or aching which is quite normal. Thereafter, the practitioner will massage the area to reduce the tingling or numbing effects and allow blood to start flowing freely again.

Benefits of CoolSculpting

Non-invasive: unlike other alternative methods such as liposuction, CoolSculpting doesn’t involve any incision or cutting the skin. This minimizes the cases of infection or discomfort, and also eliminates recovery time.

Permanent Results: Fat cells are highly-unlikely to return in an area that has been treated before, meaning the patient won’t have to worry about repeating the procedure on multiple occasions.

Safe: The frozen fat cells which eventually die are removed from the body naturally. The immune system will send enzymes to attack and get rid of the dying/dead cells.

Highly Effective: CoolSculpting is suitable for any person whether male or female, young or old, and works to eliminate stubborn pockets of fat in many different areas of the body.

Fast and Easy: While it should always be used alongside a sensible diet and exercise plan, the fast results from CoolSculpting offer targeted success in a much shorter timeframe.

When Should You See Results?

Although there is no fixed duration for the procedure, it normally takes about one hour to treat each section. Once the procedure is complete, patients are free to go about their day as normal and many return to work as soon as their session is over. There’s almost no recovery involved, so it’s a convenient approach for many people.

You will expect to see results after a few weeks, as the immune system takes time to remove the dead/dying fat cells. The full effect can take up to three or four months to fully complete, but once it’s done the results are permanent.

Studies Suggest That Fountain Of Youth May Be Near

Published by:

2013-06-08-Durham-Fountain-YouthFew people look forward to aging. Unfortunately, no one has found a way to stop the effects of Father Time. With that being said, researchers are hard at work in search of ways to slow or reverse the aging process. Recently, a pair of big discoveries sent shock waves through the scientific community, which appears to be closer than ever to finding a cure for aging.

Closer than Ever

We’ve all heard the story of Ponce De Leon’s futile hunt for the legendary Fountain of Youth. Now, it appears scientists may have stumbled upon a pair of major revelations which could turn this myth into reality. For the first time ever, researchers have definitively located the part of the brain which controls how we age. They also figured out how to slow down Father Time by manipulating this region.

How They Did it

Published in the journal Nature, the study focused on manipulating the hypothalami in the brains of mice. Responsible for a myriad of important functions, this critical brain region controls bodily development, growth, metabolism, reproduction and aging. By activating NF-B pathways, the scientists were able to rapidly accelerate aging in their mouse subjects. In fact, the effects were so substantial, the young mice quickly demonstrated common signs of aging, including decreases size, muscle mass, learning ability and skin thickness. Alternatively, the researchers were able to slow the aging process and increase subject life expectancy by 20 percent by blocking these same NF-B pathways.

Another Major Discovery

This recent scientific study isn’t the only aging research making headlines. Just this year, Harvard Medical School researchers confirmed that the antioxidant resveratrol does slow the aging process in humans. Found in red wine, this grape-based compound appears to enhance a cell’s ability to create energy by stimulating the production of a bodily serum called SIRT1. According to the scientists who conducted the study, their breakthrough research could pave the way for powerful anti-aging medications that boost SIRT1 production much better than resveratrol.

How Long Must We Wait?

Although scientists seem closer than ever to slowing or stopping the aging process; we are probably still decades away from seeing the fruits of their labors. Even when researchers are able to create a pharmaceutical cure for aging, slow-moving clinical and safety trials will keep them off the market for many years. Until that time, people will have to rely on plastic surgery, injectable treatments and other cosmetic remedies if they want to look younger.

A Fortunate in the Waiting

While some equate youth-fascination with vanity; others see things from a different angle. According to Dr. Brad Durham, people have good reasons for wanting to turn back the clock.

“We all age; however, how we age depends on several factors, including genetics and certain lifestyle choices,” he said. “Many of my patients seek non-surgical facelifts, because they feel they look much older than they really are. Sadly, this causes people to treat them differently, resulting in professional, social and relationship difficulties.”

Whatever their reasons, Americans are eager to spend on anti-aging remedies. Right now, age-stunting creams and supplements contribute to a billion-dollar industry. With so much money already being spent on products that offer few if any results; it’s any wonder how much money a company could make if its researchers could develop an anti-aging drug that actually works.
