People have always had a natural need to move as well as to discover and experience the world. No virtual phenomenon can replace a genuine experience or relationship with another person.
When people move and knowledge flows, wellbeing and affluence increase and the risk of conflict falls. Worldwide interaction also enhances equality. Moving from one place to another becomes more and more easy and fast.

Finnair
This year, Finnair celebrates the 85th anniversary of its founding. A proud history brings experience and assurance, but is not in itself any guarantee of future success. As we look back to our origins, we should also keep the future firmly in our sights. In Vision 2017, published last year, we positioned ourselves ten years ahead. Now we want to look 85 years ahead!

The future belongs to those who believe in hope. We shape our future with the decisions and choices we make today. Every single action we take today counts. In order to create a better world, people, organizations and nations must take responsibility for the well-being of each other and our environment.

The level of safety we attain is the result of not only the removal of clear and evident causes of failure in technology, human factors, interfaces and management, but also of compromises in which safety is traded off against other system gains, such as airspace capacity, operation in extreme weather conditions, cost and political pressures.
“For example, the A380, which has just begun to fly, was designed in the early 2000s and the production period will probably be 30 to 40 years. And the last aircraft manufactured will be used for another 30 years. So we’re talking about cycles of 70 to 80 years. That is the main reason why it is so important for us to look into the future,” says Vice President Pascal Huet (Market Strategy, Market Research & Forecasts) from Airbus.
